Why is it that days off of work always end up busier than if I were at work? Today I was supposed to go to the teachers' convention in town but I thought I would be better off not dealing with traffic and such and stayed home so get some things done. I started by eating a little breakfast and drinking my coffee...gotta get the blood moving, ya know. Next I started the laundry. Then I cleaned out the front closet. The children had three years worth of winter and spring coats in there and an avalanche of hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens. I got rid of a bunch of coats. I threw out all the mateless gloves and mittens. I put the rest of the gloves and mittens in pairs in an organizer box. I folded all the scarves and stacked up all the hats. I rehung all the rest of the coats and grouped them by owner. I know this will not last long but if you came over right now my front closet would look great and there would even be a hanger for your jacket.
Once I finished with the closet, I made the kids a pizza for lunch. We all went outside then to clean up the yard. The youngest started raking the front yard while the son started up the mower and began mulching the leaves in the backyard. I emptied all my flower pots. Then I helped the youngest bag up her piles of leaves. I used the leaf blower to blow leaves out of the landscaping and clean off the sidewalks. The son continued to mow, now not mulching but picking up the rest of the leaves with the bagger. I did some final sweeping when the son was done. Finally, I washed out my pots.
Now it is time to shower the crud off and make supper. I am thinking beef pot pie.
Tomorrow I will clean the house, wash the towels and sheets, put away all the summer clothes, and shop.
Saturday we are going for a drive up north.
Maybe I can relax on Sunday.

I had the day off too... and accomplished very little. I actually feel kind of guilty for not doing more.

I got blindsided on Sunday morning by my wife when she suddenly decided I should insulate our attic. Eight hours later I was showering fiberglass dust out of my hair. Good times.
