Fly-by Blogging
So I have been running non-stop for the whole month of November and it is going to continue through December.
We skipped the wedding even after the SIL tried to lay the guilt trip. But we did attend the benefit concert.
The next weekend we drove for hours (okay 35 minutes) to a housewarming party with the family. It was fine but an unnecessarily early start to holiday family events. In fact, as we were leaving someone brought up Thanksgiving. I didn't here any offers to host so I ran for the door...(turns out my SIL is hosting so I don't have to cook!)
Another weekend we ran the son back and forth to church events. Then another weekend the son had 3 showings of his play at school and a cast party.
I took the oldest shopping one Saturday and we made out well with new clothes and things for the house. But the crowds were crazy, I saw no signs of a slow economy.
I have been going to church meetings and school meetings. I worked a few nights. I am in the midst of a huge project at work that it making my brain work overtime.
December will bring the regular onslaught of concerts, pageants, parties, and such. More church meetings and school things. And shopping...so, should I buy a Wii or not?
Oh, and did I mention, I applied for a new job. I don't expect anything to move very quickly with this (if at all) but it's out there. 'Cuz I thought some more change and excitement would be good right now.
And I miss blogging so I thought I would take a minute and throw all these incoherent, unorganized thought up for for anyone that happens to stop by. ENJOY!

Petey P. Cup
Our health plan has mascots. That's right, mascots...for a health plan. I was paying a recent bill (remember the broken foot) online and while I was there I was looking at some of the information available to me online. I can see graphs of my weight or blood pressure, old test results, when I had my last physical, how much I have paid in co-pays, etc. While poking around I saw a banner:
I am thinking, WTF?! PETEY P. CUP?! Am I 5 years old and have to be convinced the doctor's office is not an evil place?! But I still clicked on it. Then I found out Petey has a friend, Pokey the Syringe. They each have Facebook pages, you can play their favorite online game (Whack a Molar), you can buy T-Shirts and stuffed Peteys and Pokeys.
Now I am thinking this is just way too corny. This is a health plan. How is anyone going to take them seriously with these goofy mascots?
Then I started to get a little mad. Yes, that's right, mad. Do you know how much we pay for health care? Way too freaking much! Do you know what kind of care we get when we go to the doctor? Mediocre at best! So here's what I think, instead of spending the money they are making off of me on colorful banners, mascot and product development, and paying some schlep to monitor Facebook; maybe they could charge me less or at least spend the money on improving care for me and my family.
