Breakin' Up Is Hard To Do

I finally ended it with the Schwan's delivery man. We had a standing date every two weeks for maybe 5 years, rain or shine. But I have finally had enough. First he added a delivery fee due to raising fuel cost (but did he remove the fee once gas dropped below $2.00/gallon...um, no). Then he raised the prices on the things I bought most often. Recently, some of the items could only be purchased if you pre-ordered them and even then there was no guarantee of getting them. The final straw came when the breaded clams we like to have with steak had so little in a bag they would hardly feed one person and they were mostly crumbs. So, what's a girl to do? It had to end. I deserve better. But like any woman afraid to end a long-standing relationship, I put it off for a few weeks. But tonight was the night. I went to dinner with my husband and left strict instructions with the oldest, when the Schwan's man comes, tell him "your mother doesn't want to see him anymore." And when I returned from dinner, it was done. The oldest says to me, "I broke up with the Schwan's man for you, Mom." Maybe I should have her call my hairdresser tomorrow...

Any Excuse to Eat Chocolate...

Let It Snow!

I am not a big fan of winter but if it is going to be cold it may as well snow. I can't stand the cold when the outside looks dark, dreary, and dirty (how's that for some alliteration!). We are supposed to get some snow off and on over the next week and that is fine with me. It started while we were out for dinner and Fleet Farm this evening. I don't even mind driving in the snow...as long as I don't have to go too far. (Makes me appreciate my 9 block commute to work.) I do get a little nervous when the oldest is out driving in the snow but she has recently found a boy that will drive her around (not sure if that makes me feel better or not!). The Hubby and the son do all the shoveling. And the snow inspires me to bake and make hot cocoa, that can't be bad...right?
